The Stool Pigeons Fly the Coop

Winter is here. 1st June and the pigeons have flown to northern regions. Fitz has taken his long silently suffering to France, where they will again be allowed to speak of the many secret things between couples.  Tony has packed his pedal bike, and shipped it to Germany, where he will tour the lowlands with his daughter, protected by accompanying Karen in the BMW or Mercedes tour vehicle.

But whilst some fly way Peter, fly away Paul, others drive themselves back to Hobart from autumn holidays. Larkey returned after the very successful Saint Hill - Man Alive release in Melbourne: see and listen to clips: Cut and paste into your browser):

With strains of the famous Robert Smith band "The Cure", along with the eponymous Robert Zimmerman, the Saint Hill rendezvous with musical fame is upon us. Larkey will be truly living off the earnings! His retirement from invigilating will be complete.

Porter was his reliable self, with hood, gloves, and wetsuit, he steamed ahead on the 30km jaunt from the Royal Yacht Club Tasmania to MONA.

Kimber likewise, rugged up against the 5 degree but sunny and windless morn, was ready to take on the big push.

But now that we are into winter: what is there for those old stay at homes, not the Koslow's the Fitzgibbons, or those others in the bike network who are so sporadic that they are yet to deserve mention in 2018?  Yes, what of them?

Where is the National Heart Federation symbol: Lynch?  Not seen your Honour!

Where is Max Reed? Snug at home in the bosom of his loved one.

The Nathan? Sporadic would imply some actual presentation to arms - but no, long silences of vacuum and nothingness.

Stats:
30 km averaged about 19km because we stopped a bit, and indeed, had a good hard look at the Elwick Showgrounds Sunday Market - Salamanca it aint.
Sunshine, and coffee at Mona: new regime: if you return from holidays, you shout the team coffee. Thanks Larkey for the choc cake too.

Scenes of this week in Hobart:

Agatha Christie at the Playhouse Theatre in Bathurst Street (well, that is where the theatre is, but with blokes burying themselves under the street outside the HCC chambers, one must be specific).

Image: not Agatha Christie, but a young lady serving up the red wine to us on Wednesday evening at the Playhouse presentation of "Appointment with Death" -

Sunday arvo: discussion on this morning's tour about getting the luncheon club group to have a joint effort of a curry lunch: each bring a curry, and the host house produce 10kg of rice, and bring your own refreshments: so, I'm practising today with a Massaman Beef Curry, guided by Taste.com.au - my security blanket when preparing food:

And with winter upon us the last run of lemons have started to fall from the tree.  Many available, so if you want a few, let me know. Otherwise they will go into the Kimberacello drink to be created and consumed in these wintery evenings, either as an aperatif or a digestive, whichever enables one to consume it there and then!

So how will the curry look? Check it out: Magic!

And of course, whilst our Tasmanians are exiting the state in the false belief that life is better elsewhere (albeit that it undoubtedly warmer nearly anywhere at the moment), others are coming to the State for the fabulous mid-winter, including the Birthday Season, and DARK MONA.

Reminder: Amity will be moored in Constitution Dock for a few days and a weekend during Dark Mona, so if you see anyone on board, please join us for a bite to eat or refreshment.

Rosa Crosby will be joining us from next Thursday, here is a shot of The Garlic Girls at Horseplay Bay (sic Horseshoe Bay) in British Columbia, where Rosa and her indigenous mob (pictured) play up before the embarkation to Tasmania. We will welcome them to Hobart.

Camille K and Alex Hogan will join us for her birthday on 8th June: turning (not over a new leaf) the ripe age of 27 years, we will be trying out the new Italian restaurant in Castray Esplanade "Ti Ami" on Friday night.
Image: Camille as she once was, maybe 10 years ago.

So, next weekend is the long weekend and includes my very own birthday anniversary on the 11th June. Long time since 1957!
