Reflecting on Bonnet Hill on the bike

Facts and figures:

Larkey, Fitz and Kimber - no Porter. Others, sporadicism.
A very good average speed of 18.7km/hr. We normally find that difficult. I think the mid week rides for those without daytime jobs is proving very beneficial to the overall stamina and drive. Discussion about how best to set the gears to keep the legs moving, as opposed to how to get the feet back in the clips after stopping for a rest - very positive developments.

Maximum speed 48km/hr - down from the top of the Bonnet. Still wet patches in the inside corners, threatening to spill a rider should the tread slip away underneath. Discussion of ice, a realistic concern, even by 1030hrs.

Time from Nixon St to Bonnet and back, ignoring the stopping - 1hr 13min. Good. Everything over 40 minutes is worth twice the time before it. Tell that to Dr Who.

Distance: 22.9 km.  I don't know if that is a lot or a little. I guess 30km would be desirable and under and hour and half.

As I understand the mid-week men, they travel to Taroona Pub and back, so probably under an hour, and about 18km, and no troublesome up hill stuff.

Discussion commenced about the alleged JJJ forum on 'giving head'.  I reported that a conservative had complained of the intrusion into human affairs from a public broadcaster, living on the public purse.  I asked if he recalled or participated at all in the famous "Little Red School Book" matter in about 1968. He didn't.

I think the general consensus of the riders, specifically the former teacher, was that any advice and information on sex was a good idea.

I also felt it was well within the embrace of appropriate information/entertainment for JJJ to publish, amongst the great wealth of material it does. Indeed, this isn't the only sources of such useful information.

Anyway, the downhill run was fantastic, and we pulled into the Concourse d'auto at lower Sandy Bay - where numerous Jags, MG, Dodge Brothers, Rolls Royce, Morgan and lesser known brands were on display. When asked which I would prefer, I had (reluctantly) to admit, I don't want the responsibility. Happy with current cluttered life.

Presently listening to ABC on money laundering and an attack on CBA for permitting their services to be used to funnel money overseas. Apparently fines of up to 1 trillion $$ are available. Then Nick Xenapohon said "fines aren't enough". Nil sum game I think.

Sunday, 6th August. Over and out.
