30 Km and av 21km/hr: great ride on a lovely day by the Porter, Larkey and Kimber. Others, absent presumed hurt.

Sunday 19th March 2017. Larks, Fitzs, Porter (who should be portering our bikes) and El Kimbros - RYCT 9am. Fivecast: 30 degrees. Blue sunny sky. Windy as the gates of hell. Initial plan was conquer the Tasman Bridge - over the Lake Illawarra - establish whether Captain Pelk was pissed. But the wind was deemed too strong. Group decision making: democracy: but laced with courtesy: Porter recommends the Queens Domain. Very fitting. So we aim for the start of the bike track then to divert past the Tattersalls or some bloody marketing story Swimming Pool. When we get there, more democratic last minute adjustments to the agenda, and instead, take to the right, and ride the lower grade (in once sense) path past Government House. The gates we shut, to give Her Majesty some peace on Sunday morning (all those canapes, all those gins and tonix).  Past also, unnoticed almost, the Beaumaris Zoo. Where the last Tasmanian Tiger in captivity resided. If an animal in a zoo resides anywhere....

This One's for Fred!

Sunday 8th April 2018: after a bit of dithering (good word that) due to the prospect of rain, hail and shining, we postponed the usual 9am start, elected an 11am on Sudnay morning. Weather reports came in from Marieville Esplanade, Sandy Bay's 'golden mile', the Anglican Church Glebe, and St David's Park (who was there and why I don't know). We also had the prospect of the Leader of the Heart Foundation (Tasmania) Mr Graeme Lynch Esq OHS, however he called in sick with a sore finger. The crew who took to the road: Peter Larkey, Jeff Fitzgibbon, Stephen Porter and Phil Kimber.  The sun came out, the road was dry, a warm wind slight from the north, and we headed out from the Royal Yacht Club toward Mona. Gentle but consistent riding (as the actress complained to the bishop) with an average of close to 20 km/hour, and we were at Mona before two shakes of a lamb's tail. A South Arm Adventure

Sounds like a leg transmogrified into an arm, but no, it was simply the jaunt last on Sunday 14th April 2019 from Tony K's house Granary Place, and the Tangara track, between Mortimer Bay and South Arm. A 30 min drive from Sandy Bay, via Pass Rd, Lauderdale, then a right turn to the start of the track. A wonderful day; no wind, warm, and a 9.30am start - easy peasy. Here are the 4 bike riders: Larkey with his head looking straight at us, a light fawn colour, Kimber the black Alpaca, Fitzgibbon with the smart little turned up tail (he was a bit shy, and keeping all bases covered) and Tony stoutly overseeing the invaders to his territory: Image: PK Tony and Karen have a lovely house discreetly just back over the hill, so with a fine view, but not visible from the foreshore track.
